Inspecting the Lid Handle Roller
Some locations may choose to do this procedure on a more frequent basis (i.e., quarterly, semi-annually, or other frequency).
|
Objects can fall and splash hot oil or hot water while performing this procedure. Cover the vat with a sheet pan or drain the vat and allow to cool otherwise serious burns may result. |
-
Open the lid.
-
Cover the vat.
-
Remove the mounting screw and mounting plate holding each roller onto the lid handle, then slide each roller off of its shaft.
-
Clean each lid roller and each shaft with a mild detergent and water.
-
Inspect the inside and outside of each roller for:
A deep groove is any groove where the depth of the groove is .010” or greater. If groove depth is less than what is shown, the roller may be re-used. If the groove depth is questionable, then either replace the roller, or use a micrometer to precisely measure the depth of the groove and determine if the roller needs to be replaced.
-
If either roller is cracked, has flat spots, deep grooves or circle marks as shown, replace both rollers with kit number 140440; otherwise re-use the existing rollers.
-
To install a new roller or an existing roller:
-
Slide the roller on its roller shaft.
-
Apply blue semi-permanent thread locker to the threads of the mounting screw.
-
Securely fasten the mounting plate with its mounting screw.
Each roller should spin freely after installation.
-
Circle marks on the sides of the roller.
