Power Mode

Hard Power Up: Fryer starts out with no power (unplugged or breaker off then on).

All 8’s are displayed, including decimal points and the startup song is played (5 beeps). Available single LED’s are displayed. Then the software version is displayed. Then the type of fryer is displayed: ELEC, GAS, and SSI. IDG may be an option in the future.

Soft Power Up: Control is live but power switch is turned off then on.

All 8’s are displayed, including decimal points and the startup song is played (5 beeps). Available single LED’s are displayed.

Cook Cycle

The timer set point will be displayed; otherwise, “OFF” is displayed if the vat power switch is off. Press either timer button to start a cook cycle. Push and hold either timer button to stop a cook cycle. The timer set points will not be viewable or programmable when a timer is running. The oil temperature set point can be viewed or changed at any time as described below.

Programming times and temperature set points:

When the timer set points are displayed use the Up or Down buttons below each display to change the set point values. Push the PROG button once to show the vat’s oil temperature. Push the PROG button again to see the vat oil set point temperature. When the oil set point(s) is displayed use the Up or Down buttons below each display to change the set point values. If the PROG button is pushed for a third time the time set points will be displayed. If no buttons are pressed for some time when showing the vat oil temperature or vat set point temperature the control will return to the timer set point display. If control is off, display will return to “ OFF”.

NOTE: If front panel programming is locked in Special Programming, “LOCK” will be displayed when the user tries to change set point values.

Heat Control Settings

All of these values are hard coded and are NOT programmable by the user.

Melt mode heat pulse: 15 seconds on, 15 seconds off. This is designed for liquid shortening.

Cook mode:

Cooking: PC factor = 1 (Thermostatic control).

Not cooking: PC factor = 8 (Pulsed control).

The total time period for the heat cycle is 60 seconds.

The control pulses the heat at set point at 8% of total heat period or 4.8 seconds on and 55.2 seconds off.

One degree under set point the pulse rate is 1/8 of period or 7.5 seconds on and 52.5 seconds off, two degrees under set point the pulse rate is 2/8 of period or 15 second on and 45 seconds off, etc. The control will turn off the heat 30 °F under set point for 45 seconds on a cold start (oil temperature < 230°F on power up). This is done to minimize overshoot.

Melt Mode

Melt is entered out of a power up if the vat temperature is less than 230 °F. The display will alternate between showing “MELT” and the vat temperature. Once the vat temperature reaches and is stable at 230 °F, normal mode will be entered automatically. The user can exit melt mode by pressing and holding the timer button. Hold left timer for left side. Hold right timer for right side. The heat control for melt mode is 15 seconds on followed by 15 seconds off.

The time and oil temperature set point values can be programmed while in Melt mode by pressing the PROG button. See Programming times and temperature set points.
