Troubleshooting the C8000 Open Fryer Message

Overview
Computron 8000 controls auto detect whether the unit type is pressure or open. The feature uses a small voltage at power up to detect resistance through the pressure solenoid valve circuit.
-
Under normal operation, if the Computron 8000 control sees resistance through the pressure valve circuit, the fryer type is pressure.
-
If the Computron 8000 control sees no resistance through the pressure valve circuit, the fryer type is open.
If the pressure solenoid valve coil resistance is open or the circuit disconnected, the C8000 may incorrectly deter the fryer type as open instead of pressure.
Procedure
![]() |
Shock Hazard To avoid electrical shock or property damage, disconnect power before installing or servicing equipment. Lowering the control board exposes the technician to 240 VAC electricity inside the fryer. |
-
Check the pressure solenoid valve circuit for continuity. The 24VAC solenoid valve coil should have a resistance of approximately 2.2 ohms.
-
If necessary, replace the solenoid valve or damaged wires.
