Only perform this procedure when the unit is cool or severe burns may result. |
This procedure provides step-by-step instructions for performing the Bulk Dispose and Fill retrofit. This retrofit is designed only for multi-well fryer units and is not intended to upgrade single-well fryers. The primary instructions in this procedure apply to 10 port selector valves.
Preparing the Fryer
-
Turn power switch off.
-
Ensure fryer is cool to touch before moving.
-
Pull out the fryer and unplug from power source.
Performing the Bulk Dispose and Fill Retrofit
-
Access the selector valve from the rear of the fryer. Use the 1/4" and 9/16" hex wrench to remove the plug from port 1, port 6 (port 4 if 6-port valve) and port B.
NOTE: Ports 1 and B will be found on the right side of the valve and port 6 (port 4 if 6-port valve) will be on the left from the rear of the fryer.
NOTE: Depending on the type of fryer (i.e., FFFF/SSSS), use the wrench to remove other fittings and/or flex lines to access these ports.
-
Install the SAE #12 straight flare check valve fitting into port B and tighten.
-
Install the bulk fill SAE #8 to 1/2 Barb fitting into port 6 and tighten. (For 6-port valve, install SAE #8 to 1/2 fitting into port 4 and tighten.)
-
Install the SAE #12 to SAE #8 reducer fitting into port 1 and tighten.
-
Locate the mounting holes on back right top of the rear frame and mount the bulk fill and dispose assembly using 2x 1/4 - 20 nuts and tighten with blue loctite.
NOTE: Verify the angle of the fittings are 45 degrees to the left.
NOTE: For 4 well units, confirm there is no interference issues with the power cable alignment when the fryer is pushed back against the wall. If so, please reference the instructions of Kit 140938.
-
Attach the 12 in. flex line to the left bulk fill flare fitting and tighten.
-
Attach the 18 in. flex line to the right bulk dispose flare fitting and tighten.
-
Carefully, bend and route the bulk fill flex line to port B on the selector valve and tighten. Leave the dispose flex line for now.
-
Using the diverter block, install 2x SAE #12 straight flair fitting and the SAE #12 elbow into the block as shown and hand tighten.
-
Install the diverter block assembly onto the reducer fitting and tighten ALL fittings.
NOTE: Make sure to tighten the elbow to a 45 degree angle toward the front of the fryer.
-
Route the rear dispose flex line to the front and connect it to the block assembly at the elbow and tighten.
Performing the Front Dispose Connection
-
Access the unit from the front where the pump motor is located.
-
Take the front dispose assembly and mount the top studs behind up and back down into the mid-shelf.
-
Using the existing holes, mount the bracket to the door frame member using 2x self-tap screws provided.
-
Apply blue loctite to the upper studs and mount the top of the bracket using the nuts provided.
-
Attach the 22 in. flex line to the front dispose assembly and route to the top of the dispose block assembly and tighten.
-
Remove the mid-shelf cover screws and carefully lower down.
-
In the middle, there will be a rectangle with a metal cover. Remove the cover and install the RTI receptacle harness.
-
Plug the RTI receptacle harness into the OMS board on connector P7.
-
Reinstall mid-shelf cover.
-
Follow the bulk fill cable kit instructions provided to connect and route the bulk fill cable.
Performing Auto Top Off / JIB Fill Connection
-
Access and remove the right-side panel of the fryer.
-
Remove the current silicone hose connection from the ATO pump.
-
Using the new silicone hose assembly, connect the 6 in. side to port 6 (or port 4 if a 6-port valve) and tighten with hose clamp.
-
Attach the 17.5 in. side to the JIB pump outlet fitting and tighten with hose clamp.
-
Route main pick-up tube line to the JIB or fresh oil box.
-
Re-attach the right-side panel.
- Working in reverse, complete steps 3 through 1, in the Preparing the Fryer section, to return the fryer to service. Follow the Bulk Oil screen setup below to enable the bulk dispose and fill settings.
IMPORTANT! Do not overtighten! Overtightening could cause tears in the silicon hose.
The fryer is now ready to be connected to bulk fill and dispose. It may require the bulk oil company to install their connections to the fryer.
