Troubleshooting the E-75 Contactor Near End-of-Life Error Code

Troubleshooting: E-75 Contactor Near End-of-Life Error Code

The E-75 error code appears on a Quantum Fryer when the number of cycles from the secondary contactor exceeds the program limit of 6.3 million cycles. This error indicates that the secondary contactor is nearing the end of its usable life, and it is time to schedule replacement. The error can be acknowledged and temporarily dismissed by the user, but it will reappear every four hours until the contactor is replaced and the settings are reset in T-18A and T-18B in tech mode.

Error Code Designations

  • E-75U: Upper heater secondary contactor is near end of life.

  • E-75L: Lower heater secondary contactor is near end of life.

  • E-75M: Both upper and lower secondary contactors are near the end of life.

Important Notes

  • Anytime a secondary contactor is replaced, T-18A and T-18B must be reset to ensure the cycle count is accurate.

  • The error code triggers at 90% of the contactor’s life as a proactive reminder to replace it before failure.

Call Avoidance

To help the end user resolve the issue without a service call:

  • If the E-75 error code appears, but the customer states the contactor was recently replaced, the technician may have forgot to perform a reset in T-18A and T-18B or each corresponding vat. Walk the customer through a reset of these parameters to avoid a service call.

Field Troubleshooting

If call avoidance steps do not resolve the issue, proceed with the following field troubleshooting steps.

Recommended Parts

CFE 5XX Open Fryer Series

  • Heat Contactor (consider bringing extras to replace both upper and lower heater secondary contactors and on multiple vats).

Recommended Tools

Basic hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, etc.)

Field Troubleshooting

  1. Check Cycle Counts:

    • Lower Heating Element (Heat 1): Viewed and reset in T-18A in tech mode.

    • Upper Heating Element (Heat 2): Viewed and reset in T-18B in tech mode.

    • If cycle count exceeds 6.3 million for any contactor, replace it. Consider replacing contactors nearing 6.3 million in one service call to avoid another trip in a few months to replace another contactor.

  2. Replacement Procedure:

    • Replace the secondary contactor(s).

      • The contactors are located on the rear side of the fryer behind the rear cover.

    • Reset T-18A and T-18B contactor limits in tech mode on corresponding control after replacement.
