Troubleshooting the W-9 Discard Product Warning
Overview
A "Discard" warning is generated at the conclusion of a cook cycle if the actual elapsed time of that cook cycle exceeds the absolute maximum allowed for that particular product. This elapsed time accrues only until the cook timer counts down to 0:00, so extra time spent beeping “Done” before the user acknowledges the end of the cook cycle will not trigger a Discard event.
Call Avoidance
To help the end user resolve the issue without a service call: Ensure that proper sized batches are being cooked. This error may occur if small amounts are cooked.
Warning Detail
-
Trigger: The warning is triggered if the overall duration of a cook cycle exceeds the programmed Discard limit.
-
Notification: At the end of the cook cycle, the controller will display the Discard warning message and sound a continuous pulsed tone. This tone is distinctly different from the normal "warbling" warning tone.
-
Action: Press the Checkmark button to clear the Discard warning.
Food Handling
In the case of a Discard warning, the food is to be discarded immediately and not served. Even though the color of the product may look acceptable, the product has cooked so long that it is too dry internally to be considered acceptable.
