Replacing the Filter Pump Motor

Filter motors can be replaced independent of the filter pump or together as an assembly. The following instruction includes the separation of the filter pump from the filter motor.

To avoid electrical shock or property damage, move the power switch to OFF and disconnect power.

  1. Remove the filter pan, fresh oil pan (ATO), and condensation pan.

The condensation pan is not used on an open fryer, only a pressure fryer.

  2. Use an adjustable wrench to remove the flex line from one end of the pump motor.

A hard tube may be present on pump outlet if this is a newer build.

  3. Use an adjustable wrench to remove pipe connections from one end of the pump motor.

  4. Use a crosshead screwdriver to remove the two screws that secure the plate onto the pump motor.

  5. Mark the locations of the black wires.

  6. Remove the black wires from the pump motor.

  7. Use a flat blade screwdriver to remove the conduit retainer ring from the pump motor.

  8. Remove the conduit retainer and conduit from the pump motor.

  9. Use a 1/2 inch wrench to remove the two nuts on the mounting plate.

  10. Lift up on the pump motor then pull it off the mounting plate.

  11. If replacing the motor only, remove the two screws connecting the filter pump to the face of the filter motor.

  12. Separate the pump and motor assemblies.

  13. Install the two screws connecting the filter pump to the face of the filter motor.

  14. Place the new pump motor onto the mounting plate so the hanger bolts rest on the top lip and slide down so the studs are in line with the holes in the pump motor base.

  15. Use a 1/2 inch wrench to secure the pump motor to the mounting plate.

  16. Use an adjustable wrench to reconnect the lines to the correct port of the pump motor.
