Replacing the Pilot / Ignitor Assembly

To avoid electrical shock or property damage, move the power switch to OFF and disconnect power.

The Henny Penny open fryer (gas) has electronic spark ignition that lights a standing pilot. The gap between the spark electrode and the pilot hood should be set at 1/8 of an inch.

Remove electrical power supplied to the unit.
Remove the control panel.
Disconnect the pilot gas line fitting at the pilot assembly with a 1/2 in. wrench.
Use a crosstip head screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the pilot assembly to the mounting bracket.
Remove the flame sensor wire from the flame sensor.
Follow the wire from the spark ignitor back to the module, and remove wire from module.
After removing assembly from unit, pull the flame sensor out of the bracket.
Insert flame sensor into new pilot assembly.
Reinstall the new pilot assembly in reverse order. Ensure to not cross thread the pilot gas line fitting.
Label wires at the Main Power switch and disconnect wires at switch.
Remove faulty switch and install new switch.
Reconnect wires to switch in the same position as noted on the labels.
Replace control panel
