Troubleshooting the OFG 32X Fryer Stuck in Ignition Loop

Overview

The OFG fryer may go through the entire ignition process and light the main burn and immediately restart to the beginning sequence. If this process keeps repeating indefinitely, follow the troubleshooting procedure to end the loop.

Troubleshooting

Shock Hazard

To avoid electrical shock or property damage, disconnect power before installing or servicing equipment. Lowering the control board exposes the technician to 240 VAC electricity inside the fryer.

  1. Turn off unit.

  2. Verify the oil temperature is above melt exit.

The melt cycle is a continual pulse of heat during startup to slowly heat the oil. If the control displays Melt Cycle, then the burners will pulse heat until reaching the exit temperature. After exiting Melt Cycle, the burner should be on until reaching set point.

  3. If the burners are continually cycling and the oil temperature is above melt, this is a sign of a leak in the blower vacuum path.

  4. Squeeze the orange tube on the vacuum switch while turning on the unit. Assess if the burner is functioning properly.

  5. Ensure the blower is functioning properly.

  6. Ensure the blower tube is not obstructed.

  7. Ensure the baffles are not damaged.

  8. If all parts are functioning properly and undamaged, replace vacuum switch.
