To avoid personal injury or property damage, before starting this procedure, move the main power switch to the off position. Disconnect the main circuit breakers at the circuit breaker box or unplug service cord from wall receptacle. Turn off the main gas supply to the fryer and disconnect and cap the main supply line to fryer, or possible explosion could result.

  1. Remove electrical power supplied to the unit.

  2. Drain oil from vat, ensure drains are in the closed position.

  3. Open doors to filter pan and pull filter pan from fryer.

  4. Using a crosstip screwdriver, remove the screws, and nuts. This secures the drain switch and cover. Discard cover.

  5. Disconnect the wires to drain switch and discard old switch.

  6. Use pliers or channel locks to remove the cotter pin. This holds the drain rod handle and drain valve coupling together.

  7. Pull drain rod handle from bracket and discard.

  8. Use a crosstip screwdriver to remove the screws securing the control panel followed by pulling the control panel down.

  9. Unplug all connectors from back of control panel and remove from unit.

  10. Use an 11/16 in. wrench to loosen the fitting to the left burner jet and pull tube from fitting.

  11. Use an 11/16 in. wrench to loosen the lower burner jet fitting at the elbow and pull tube from elbow.

  12. Use an 11/16 in. wrench to loosen the flexible burner tube at the fitting behind the high limit.

    Ensure capillary bulb of high limit is located behind capillary bulb of thermostat. Both capillary bulbs and bulb holders should be positioned as not to interfere with basket or when cleaning the vat wall, or damage to capillary tube could result.

  13. Use a 3/8 in. nutdriver or socket, remove the nuts securing the high limit bracket, pull the high limit and bracket out of the way.

  14. Use a 1 in wrench to loosen the main gas line. The main gas line is located to the left of the gas valve.

  15. Use 1/2 in wrench to loosen the pilot tube fitting. Lift up and remove pilot orifice. Store carefully, if dropped the burner will not function correctly.

  16. Label wires to gas valve and then remove wires from gas valve.

  17. Use a crosstip screwdriver to remove the 3 screws securing the drain rod bracket to the frame. Remove bracket assembly from the unit.

  18. Use a crosstip screwdrvier to remove 2 screws securing the gas valve to the bracket and remove bracket from gas valve. Discard bracket.

  19. Mount gas valve to the new drain rod bracket from the kit.

  20. Push the black snap bushing into the whole shown in the image. Mount the drain bracket to fryer using screws provided by the kit.

  21. Reconnect the gas valve wires.

  22. Reconnect the gas line, burner jet tubes, and pilot tube. Install pilot orifice when connecting pilot tube.

  23. Reattach high limit bracket, using the nuts from the kit.

  24. Reattach the control panel.

  25. Use a flat head screwdriver to remove and discard the "NORM CLOSED" terminal from the drain switch provided inside the kit.

  26. Connect the wires to the drain switch and mount it and the cover behind the drain rod bracket. Ensure to use nuts and screws provided by the kit.

  27. Insert the drain rod through the drain rod bracket and into the drain valve coupling. Push up on the plunger of the drain switch while inserting the drain rod handle, or damage to the drain switch may occur.

  28. Position the handle so it is pointed to the left side of the unit with the drain valve closed.

  29. Secure with a cotter pin from the kit. The plunger on the drain switch should be pressed by the drain rod when closed. When in the open position, the notch in the drain rod will release the drain switch plunger. A click should be heard indicating the switch is open..
